John Henry (Ole Bob Bowers-Once Double by Double Jay)

Born in the same year as Affirmed and Alydar, John Henry took his time developing into a champion and winning over the hearts of the racing world. John Henry's history is truly a rags to riches story as he was once sold for a $1,100 price tag and ended his career with winnings of over $6 million. He is thought of as the last of the great handicappers. He won his 1984 Horse of the Year award at the ripe old age of nine while still competing at the highest level of racing.

John Henry now resides at The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky. He is known to be a bit grumpy, but thousands of people visit him each year just the same.
